Re: Recruitment System Discussion & Old Horde Stuff
True..
But yeah the questions don't have to be the exact same, just of similar style.

Re: Recruitment System Discussion & Old Horde Stuff
Regarding the personality test, it might be good to first adress the 'core values' that we want from an agent, and develop the questions from that. The values can of course vary between assassins, infiltrators and specialist. What I'm thinking of is:
1. Logical thinking
2. Knowledge of various races (also a good way to test their lore ICly)
3. Knowledge of various magics (again, good way to test their lore ICly)
4. Combat knowledge in various situations
5. Loyalty
6. Motivation (this could be a closing statement).
Example questions could be:
1. "You are facing a cloth-wearing forsaken with evil intentions. Which schools of magic is he likely to use?"
2. "If the Director and Master Assassin are absent, who do you answer to on a mission?"
3. "You have come across a night elf in the land of desolace. Which organisation would they most likely to belong to, and how would you interact with them?"
Of course the values I mentioned could be horsedonkeybutts, as are the questions, but what would you think of this strategy? Might make thinking of them easier

Bumpedy bump. Stickies need to be bumped.
But yeah, we should start writing down the actual questions and whatnot.
Also I thought I'd replied to Gripgrap already, but apparently not.
There are some decent suggestions, though I certainly smell 'horsedonkeybutts'.
So! Core values for our agents? Good questions to test logical thinking?
Suggestions pls!

Re: Recruitment System Discussion & Old Horde Stuff
In the past when I have conducted interviews I guess I have had core values in mind.
Abilities
Trust
External affiliations
Views on Alliance law
Intention behind joining us
Not being a moron

Re: Recruitment System Discussion & Old Horde Stuff
So this still needs to be done. So far I think we have something like this:
And I guess some of the questions that were already suggested could fit in here somewhere.
Anyway, let's once again try to get this done properly :0)
- 1.0 OOC chat:
- If we don't know the person, we should ask if they know the basics of RP and explain if they don't.
- 2.0 Interview:
- Name?
- Reason for joining?
- Tell us a little bit about yourself.
- What can they do?
- Who have they worked for in the past? / Criminal history?
- Stress that we work for the Alliance only—not the highest bidder.
- Name?
- 2.1 mini lore test:
- Name three religions and explain what they are.
- Name one major Alliance/Horde (both) settlement in each continent.
- Name three religions and explain what they are.
- 2.2 Personality test:
- Greatest weakness/strength
- Some scenario where there is a bad guy and doing anything except killing would end up in a disaster
- Favourite method of killing people
- Greatest weakness/strength
- 2.3 Logical thinking??:
- Puzzles, trick questions?
- 3.0 'field' test:
- Intelligence - collect information from a given target without asking directly
- Assassins - painted training sword, uninformed agent as the target
- Coordinators - presentation: explain and show
- Intelligence - collect information from a given target without asking directly
- 4.0 Trial period:
- Longer training courses with mentors. Will have to get mentors.
And I guess some of the questions that were already suggested could fit in here somewhere.
Anyway, let's once again try to get this done properly :0)

Re: Recruitment System Discussion & Old Horde Stuff
Updated the post above with the stuff we came up with today. Let's keep going - we still have to cover 2.1, 2.2 and 2.3 and perhaps add something to 2.0!

For the interview, we should also ask for a brief character history? We obviously don't want to recruit criminals and such.

And this also serves a bit of a lore test, albeit a very rough one - but it still filters out the 4000 year old nelves born in Darnassus and the noble family gnomes and the half-dragons.

Re: Recruitment System Discussion & Old Horde Stuff
For logical thinking you could give them hypothetical situations such as "X has information critical to Y plan how would you obtain it" or "X needs to be silenced how do you proceed" I know these are rough questions but it could show us which branch they could potentially fit into.

Re: Recruitment System Discussion & Old Horde Stuff
i think the lore test should be something thats well known about the race sort of like from the intro movie of each race then atleast they dont have to read up on all the lore of that race

Re: Recruitment System Discussion & Old Horde Stuff
Though if they are serious about rping that race, they should read up on it, at least a small amount..
And just to put it out there, the logic puzzles don't have to be agent related. They will be to test generic logic and testing their spy logic etc. is what the field test is for.

So I googled some puzzles last night and realized it's very hard to find something that wouldn't feel too much like testing the person's OOC logic. However, I had a silly idea.
I found a lot of stupid questions that completely ignored the fact that people are different, such as this:
Silly question wrote:Cathy has twelve black socks and twelve white socks in her drawer.
In complete darkness, and without looking, how many socks must she take from the drawer in order to be sure to get a pair that match?
- Solution:
- Solution: 3
Socks do not come in in left and right, so any black will pair with any other black and any white will pair with any other white. If you have three socks and they are either colored black or white, then you will have at least two socks of the same color, giving you one matching pair.
First of all, my socks do come in left and right, because I always wear the same sock in the same foot. Silly puzzle-maker is ignoring my neuroticism.
Secondly, the right answer is obviously two (or one even), because each pair is rolled up together, duh.
Anyway, the point is, we could abuse this fact. Like in this case if the person says three, or something completely different, we can be like NO IT'S TWO AGENTS MUST ALWAYS BE PREPARED.
I think it's funny and that way we can teach them a lesson about a couple of 'core values'. Then, perhaps, if they got it "wrong" in the interview, we can ask a very similar one around the end of their apprentice period to see if they learned.

Re: Recruitment System Discussion & Old Horde Stuff
I like the idea of almost giving them a trick question. It'll show us the way they think, even if they get the question wrong. And it's always a good idea to put something in place to measure their improvement (if any).

Stoopid wrote:There are three boxes. One is labeled "APPLES" another is labeled "ORANGES". The last one is labeled "APPLES AND ORANGES". You know that each is labeled incorrectly. You may ask me to pick one fruit from one box which you choose.
How can you label the boxes correctly?
- their solution:
- Pick from the one labeled "Apples & Oranges". This box must contain either only apples or only oranges.
E.g. if you find an Orange, label the box Orange, then change the Oranges box to Apples, and the Apples box to "Apples & Oranges."
- my solution:
- LOOK IN THE DAMN BOXES YOURSELF.
Lesson: don't expect others to do everything for you.
I think we should use these :')

Re: Recruitment System Discussion & Old Horde Stuff
So here's what was suggested on the meeting 5/6/2016.
Kylora's suggestions (especially the one in red) were really good imo, and I think we should aim to get more questions similar to that. Things that actually matter in the work of an intelligence agent. Understanding people's beliefs helps to get along with them, and thus you can dig information better!
- Kylora: How old is Teldrassil (roughly)?
- Caviel: Previous experience in the field, what they expect from us, what they are willing to do.
- Melkorus: Who's the ruler of Ironforge?
- Feron: Titan Pantheon.
- Kylora: Name at least two or three belief systems that are not their own (and a short description of what they believe in).
- Alexa: What is the only mirror in the world that cannot be broken?
- Kylora: Geographical knowledge: name one night elven town, one dwarven town, a settlement in southern Kalimdor, etc.

Re: Recruitment System Discussion & Old Horde Stuff
I'm 100% done with this, so here's the final form.
RECRUITMENT INTERVIEW
- 1.0 OOC chat:
- If we don't know the person, we should ask if they know the basics of RP and explain if they don't.
- 2.0 Interview:
- Name?
- Reason for joining?
- Tell us a little bit about yourself.
- What can they do?
- Who have they worked for in the past? / Criminal history?
- Stress that we work for the Alliance only—not the highest bidder.
- Name?
- 2.1 mini lore test:
- Name three religions and explain what they are.
- Name one major Alliance/Horde (both) settlement in each continent.

- 2.2 Personality test:
- Greatest weakness/strength
- Some scenario where there is a bad guy and doing anything except killing would end up in a disaster
- Favourite method of killing people
- Greatest weakness/strength
- 2.3 Logical thinking:
- Ask (1) and/or (2) from the posts above
- Optional
- Ask (1) and/or (2) from the posts above
AFTER RECRUITMENT
- 3.0 'field' test:
- Intelligence - collect information from a given target without asking directly
- Assassins - painted training sword, uninformed agent as the target
- Coordinators - presentation: explain and show
- Intelligence - collect information from a given target without asking directly
- 4.0 Trial period:
- Each recruit will be assigned a mentor.
- The mentors will train and orientate the recruit.
- Each recruit will be assigned a mentor.
